Here we have Tarantula, an early Spider-Man who appeared regularly in National's STAR-SPANGLED COMICS until his costume was usurped by the Sandman when he gave up his gas mask. Soon enough Sandman would ditch the cape and add boots but it was still the same costume. For his part, upon his revival in Roy Thomas ALL-STAR SQUADRON in the eighties, Tarantula was given one of the coolest costumes ever--designed, I believe, by Jerry Ordway.

The artist's style looks familiar, Steve--did Sharp also do some other DC work. Maybe on Mr. Terrific?
Also, I'm starting to get a hankering for some Air Wave, if you've any lying around!
From Lambiek: Hal Sharp worked on American comic books through Bert Whitman Associates and Chesler Studio in the early 1940s. He mainly drew for National/DC, illustrating features like 'Flash', 'Mr. Terrific', 'Tarantula' and 'Robotman'. He did various features for Eastern Color Printing and contributed 'Lucky Lawson' to Fawcett, 'Bill Wayne' to Lev Gleason and 'Marvex' to Timely. In the 1950s, he worked on the syndicated feature 'Sportman's Digest'.
