Carl Akely-Wally Wood-1955

Here, from the very last issue of Harvey Kurtzman's EC title, TWO_FISTED TALES, is Wallace Wood spreading his wings. After several years working from Kurtzman's layouts and stories, GCD credits Wood with script, pencils and inking on this biography of Carl Akely. Akely was a real person known as the father of modern taxidermy. Wood's art, particularly on the elephant, is amazing and Marie Severin's colors add to the effect.

On FACEBOOK, Bhob Stewart added: "That's the story in which the animals were drawn by Tatjana Wood. According to Tatjana, Kurtzman was not pleased when he learned that Wally Wood had not drawn the entire story."
