Presto Martin-Bob Wood-1941

How popular was BATMAN in 1941? Well, he was popular enough that this Lev Gleason strip from SILVER STREAK emulated not only Batman's art and layout style but also his lettering style. The artist here is Bob Wood, himself an interesting footnote in comics history. After a long career as a writer, artist and editor, Wood was convicted of murder and spent nearly all of the remainder of his life in prison.
