Oberyll-Wayne Howard-1976

It's easy to see how at first glance a comic book reader in 1976 might well have taken this to be the work of Wally Wood. A closer look shows an inherent sloppiness that was certainly never present in Wood's work until the very end of his life. In fact, the art and story here are both by Wayne Howard, the former Wood assistant who never seemed interested in developing his own style as long as he could ape his mentor's. This made the late Mr. Howard an interesting...but not a good...comics creator. It could be me but do I also note a little Pat Boyette influence in this or did Pat, whom I believe was also working at Charlton at the time, perhaps do some touchups?
